Good evening,
Just had my system installed, 2 zones with the UT-3000. The installation team usually uses Honeywell Zoning but went with the UT-3000 due to the inverter tech in the A/C unit. When they did the setup, the used the Zone 1 Thermostat and didn't add the zoning board to the other equipment. My first day with the system, the zoning function worked but the system didn't seem to ramp down very much when operating only on one zone. They have an appointment scheduled to install the bypass damper next week.
I read thru the instructions and read they should have setup the system from the UT-3000 and then added the zoning board to the equipment list. Since the setup was already completed, I added the zoning board to both thermostats and everything seems to be working much better. The system has been pretty much silent almost all day even when operating in only one zone. There was one brief time where I could hear it ramp up for an unknown reason while operating in only one zone. The set point was 1 degree lower than the current temperature so I don't know what caused this.
My question is, what functionality do you lose by not adding in the zoning board to the Amana thermostat equipment list? Is the better performance I am seeing now related to this or maybe just a coincidence (or the system learning more)?
Thanks!
